Private & Custom Workshops
Looking for something a little different from our scheduled workshops? We offer private instruction, custom group workshops, and educational programs tailored to your interests, experience, and goals. Whether you're hoping to learn a particular technique, bring a group together for a hands-on experience, or develop a more in-depth learning program, we can work with you to shape an offering that fits.
What We Teach
Explore the possibilities of woven form. Working primarily with rattan, instruction explores core basketry techniques—from plaiting and twining to wickerwork and ribbed construction. Projects range in shape, scale, and complexity, with each one offering a new way to play and experiment with material while building your basketry skills along the way.
Basketry
From traditional techniques for cane, rush, and Danish cord to contemporary approaches using unexpected materials and inventive patterns, our seat weaving workshops cover a wide range of ways to weave on furniture frames. Some focus on learning established methods; others invite a more exploratory approach to material and design.
Seat Weaving
Building a creative practice takes more than skill at the work itself. Our professional development workshops help craftspeople navigate the business side of their practice, from figuring out how to price to finding customers and planning for the long term. Programs can be adapted to your group or developed from scratch to address the questions and challenges most relevant to your work.

How We Gather
-
Private sessions offer a chance to focus on a particular weaving technique or work through a challenge at your own pace. We tailor instruction to your experience and goals, whether you're learning something new or building on skills you already have.
-
Bring your people together to learn something new and make something by hand. From small groups looking to develop a shared skill to birthday gatherings, creative off-sites, and team events, we tailor workshops to the group and the occasion. We provide the materials, tools, and instruction, with projects suited to the participants and the time available.
-
We work with schools, colleges, craft organizations, guilds, and other groups to bring weaving and craft education into their programs. This might mean leading a single workshop, developing a series of classes, or building a longer course around a particular technique, project, or learning goal. We can also work with instructors and staff to develop the skills and confidence to teach weaving themselves.
